HOW TO REQUEST REIMBURSEMENT? SUPER EASY!
What does the reimbursement system mean?
We reimburse 80% of veterinary expenses (up to the agreed limits) for procedures or hospitalisation.
What are the STEPS TO REQUEST A REIMBURSEMENT?
The reimbursement process is:
1. Visit any vet – the one you prefer or the closest one
2. Ask for the invoice
3. The vet and you must fill in the reimbursement request – we will send you all the information once the insurance is purchased
4. Send us the documents – Request + list of veterinary expenses + invoices (online or by postal mail)
5. Get your money back – after receiving the documents, we review them and, if everything is correct, we reimburse the money (average time: 4 working days)
Therefore, to request reimbursement at any vet, they only need to complete a short form describing the procedure carried out and issue an invoice for their services.
One more thing: if you have a trusted vet, it is not necessary to pay the invoice upfront. They can issue a pro‑forma invoice and send it to us for the reimbursement request. Once you receive the money, you can pay your vet the amount due.
The good thing is you can go to the vet of your choice, and if you trust them, they may wait until you receive the reimbursement before you pay.
Can I request reimbursement online?
Our goal is to eliminate paperwork and its ecological cost, so reimbursements can be processed through our website.
What is the LIMIT to REQUEST a REIMBURSEMENT?
The insured must request reimbursement from the insurance company within 60 days from the date of the original invoice.
Do I need Miwuki to AUTHORISE me to carry out veterinary treatments?
No. You can go to the vet you choose and follow the treatment recommended by the vet.
Do I have to pay the vet before receiving the reimbursement?
That is something you should agree with your vet. They can issue a pro‑forma invoice and send it to us for the reimbursement request. Once you receive the reimbursement, you can pay the amount due.
The good thing is you can go to the vet of your choice, and if you trust them, they may wait until you receive the reimbursement before you pay.
What DOCUMENTS must be provided to request reimbursement?
To request reimbursement you only need to submit a reimbursement request, which you can download here, filled in with the required data, the corresponding invoices for veterinary services, a copy of the full veterinary report and the list of tests and treatments performed.
Where should I SUBMIT the reimbursement documentation?
By attaching the documents in the website form.
How long will it take to RECEIVE the REIMBURSEMENT?
The average reimbursement time is 4 working days, provided that all documentation is correct.
Where will I RECEIVE the reimbursements?
In the bank account you provide when filling in the web form for the reimbursement request.
Can I FILE A COMPLAINT if I disagree with the result of my reimbursement request?
Of course. If you are not satisfied with the result, you can file a complaint by calling 935 050 140 or emailing [email protected].

ABOUT THE PET INSURANCE
Why SHOULD I GET health insurance for my dog / cat?
75% of dogs/cats have to go to the vet each year due to illness or accident. For your pet’s wellbeing and your peace of mind, insurance helps you avoid having to make painful decisions when your dog needs costly treatments.
I see cases every day of owners who cannot help their pets because they simply cannot afford the surgeries and treatments they need. They are surprised when we give them the estimate, because in human healthcare we don’t really know how much things cost. Simple operations usually cost between 1,000 and 1,500 euros (surgery, diagnostic imaging, anaesthesia, post‑op, hospitalisation, medication…).
I would get insurance without hesitation. The peace of mind of being able to face any situation that requires veterinary care is priceless.
Marina S. Echalecu – Veterinarian, Córdoba Clinical Veterinary Hospital
What is the DIFFERENCE between Clinimascota and Completmascota?
The main difference is that Clinimascota only covers in case of surgeries (all related expenses such as diagnostic tests, consultation, diagnostic imaging…) and Completmascota covers whenever you go to the vet for illness or accident, whether surgery is needed or not.
Example: your dog/cat starts vomiting in the middle of the night and you decide to go to the emergency vet (it covers both regular and emergency consultations). The invoice is:
– Consultation 50€
– Lab tests: 50€
– X‑ray: 50€
– Hospitalisation: 150€
– IV fluids and medication: 25€
Total: 225€
If you have the full plan, the insurance reimburses 180€ (80%). With Clinimascota, since there is no surgery, it would not cover anything.
But imagine it turns out they vomit because they ate something and it has to be removed. In that case both plans would cover it because surgery is required.
And third‑party liability covers situations where your dog causes damage to someone, a car, another dog…
Imagine your dog bites another dog and the other dog needs veterinary care costing 500€. The insurance would reimburse those 500€ to the affected owner.
What is Pet Insurance?
Pet insurance helps you pay vet invoices after an accident or illness. If your pet has an accident or gets sick, Miwuki reimburses 80% of the vet invoices and medicines administered during their stay in the clinic/hospital.
What TYPES OF PETS can be insured?
You can insure DOGS and CATS of all breeds as long as they are companion animals. Animals used only for hunting or professional competitive sports are excluded, as well as working/guard dogs. Pets must have a microchip.
CAN I GO TO ANY VET?
With our insurance, you can go to any vet in Spain, with no restrictions.
If you travel, you can also go to any vet in the European Union, Switzerland, Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, San Marino, The Vatican, Monaco and Norway during trips that do not exceed 90 days 🙂
There is no clinic network: we want you to choose your favourite vet, and if you need a specialist, that it can be the best one 🙂
In what cases could I NOT insure my dog / cat?
- Dogs/cats treated for a chronic or recurrent illness (at least 3 times for the same illness in the last 12 months).
- Dogs/cats currently under treatment or that have visited a vet more than 2 times in the last 3 months (except visits for vaccination/deworming/nail trimming/grooming).
- Dogs/cats that have undergone surgery in the last 6 months (do not consider neutering/spaying).
EXCLUDED risks in any plan
Excluded from all coverages and guarantees of the policy (in addition to each specific limitation) are damages produced in the following circumstances:
– Bad faith by the insured.
– Armed conflicts, whether or not a war has been officially declared.
– Riots, popular unrest, terrorism, rebellion and sedition.
– Acts carried out by the Armed Forces or Security Forces during peacetime.
– Floods, volcanic eruption, hurricane, storm, seismic movements, landslides, subsidence or earth movements and, in general, any other natural phenomenon, unless expressly covered in these Conditions.
– Falling celestial bodies and meteorites.
– Nuclear energy.
– Participation of insured animals in fights, bets or challenges.
– Animals used in professional activity.
– Hunting accidents, races, participation in exhibitions, contests, competitions, and their training.
– Abuse, overwork, lack/insufficient/poor hygienic quality of food or care, when attributable to the insured.
– Claims classified by the Government as “national catastrophe or calamity”.
– Malformations, defects, hidden vices, injuries or illnesses of any kind and their consequences, contracted or manifested before the initial effective date of the policy or during waiting periods, even if not specifically diagnosed, and the sequelae produced by them, as well as visible birth defects and/or those that had produced symptoms.
What is the AGE LIMIT to insure my dog / cat?
If you have not purchased the insurance yet, your dog/cat must be over 3 months and under 9 years old (8 years and 365 days is the limit).
*If you insure before these ages, don’t worry: you will be able to renew the insurance throughout their life. This limit applies only to new contracts.
Up to what age does the insurance cover my dog / cat?
If your pet is already insured with us, there is no age limit and they will be protected for life.
Does the insurance cover VACCINES?
Only the “Completmascota” plan covers vaccines up to 40€ per year.
IMPORTANT: If on your vaccination day you include Rabies and polyvalent and both cost 40€, you would get the full amount reimbursed.
But if you give Rabies one day and polyvalent on another day, only Rabies would be covered.
That is, both vaccines must be done the same day or included in the same invoice. If you trust your vet, they can administer them on different days, but as long as they invoice both together there is no problem.
It also covers any vaccine: you can use the 40€ yearly amount, for example for the leishmania vaccine.
Does the insurance cover DEWORMING?
As a gift, we reimburse 15€ for deworming expenses in the first year of the insurance. You can use those 15€ for internal or external deworming bought at the vet. And there is no waiting period!
In subsequent years, deworming expenses are not covered.
Does the insurance cover SPAYING / NEUTERING?
No, the insurance does not cover spaying/neutering expenses (heat control), except when this surgery is indicated to resolve an illness that is causing a serious deterioration of the animal’s physical condition at the time of surgery and is necessary to save their life. Preventive spaying/neutering or “vet‑recommended” spaying/neutering is not covered.
It is not covered if done to avoid potential future issues, as prevention, or just on veterinary advice. The operation is only covered if the animal’s life is in danger if they are not operated at that moment.
What is considered a serious deterioration of physical condition?
For example: a tumour in the reproductive system (ovaries or uterus), a severe infection in the reproductive system (ovaries or uterus), serious wounds requiring emergency care…
In what cases would it not be covered?
– Monorchidism / cryptorchidism
– The vet “recommends” it to avoid future problems
– Pseudopregnancy
– Any problem that does not cause a serious issue at the time of spaying/neutering
– Behaviour problems
Does the insurance cover MEDICINES / MEDICATION?
Yes, medication is covered. Both medication administered by the vet and pharmacy medication. To reimburse pharmacy medication it is important that the invoice includes the medicine name, and for pharmacy purchases, the vet prescription and the pharmacy receipt.
*Food supplements, skin regenerative creams, or products that are not medicines are not covered.
Does the insurance cover FOOD?
No. The insurance does not cover any type of food or food supplements (cans, kibble, natural food, any type of supplements…).
Prescription diets are also not covered (whether bought at the clinic or elsewhere).
Does the insurance cover ALLERGIES?
The insurance DOES cover the tests to determine the allergy provided the first symptoms occurred after the insurance was purchased and after the waiting period for illness.
The insurance DOES cover oral and injectable medicines administered by the vet, except immunotherapy medicines.
The insurance DOES NOT cover immunotherapy for allergic diseases (e.g. Cytopoointt and Appoqquel).
Does the insurance cover DENTAL CLEANINGS?
The insurance DOES NOT cover dental cleanings or dental issues associated with diseases, tartar, plaque, bacteria…
The insurance DOES cover dental problems in case of accident. For example: broken teeth due to trauma, biting a stone, fights…
Does the insurance cover REHABILITATION?
Up to 5 rehabilitation/physiotherapy sessions per year are covered, when needed and at the veterinarian’s discretion, for the pet’s recovery after an illness or accident covered by the policy.
I have multiple pets. If I buy one insurance plan, will it cover all of them?
No. Each dog/cat must have its own policy. One contract does not insure all pets in the household.
I have multiple pets. Is there any DISCOUNT?
Yes!
The first purchase has a 10% discount, but the rest will each have a 20% discount 🙂*
Example:
I have 2 mixed‑breed dogs and I want the “Clinicmascota” plan which costs 12.22€ /month:
1st contract: 12.22€/month (10% discount)
2nd contract: 10.86€/month (20% discount)
Total: 23.08€ / month
The initial 10% and 20% discounts are recovered each year with a 2% increase until the sixth year. After the sixth year there is no further increase due to the initial discount.
*The premium at each renewal also varies depending on the animal’s age and reimbursements processed in the last 24 months.
🔴 Increase by age:
– 0-6 years old: 5% increase each renewal
– When turning 7 years: 25% increase
– When turning 8 years or more: 36% increase
🔴 Discounts from 7 years of age, if in the last 24 months reimbursements were processed for less than:
– 95€ > 16% discount
– 250€ > 12% discount
– 500€ > 8% discount
– 750€ > 4% discount
– More than 750€ in reimbursements – no discount applies
I have multiple pets. How do I purchase insurance for all of them?
To purchase more than one insurance policy, you must do it separately.
The process is:
1) For the first pet, select “New purchase” in the purchase form
2) Once completed, click “Continue with purchase”
3) When you receive a confirmation email, it means we have registered your request. Then you can make the second purchase.
4) Go back to the form, but this time select “I already have another insured pet”. You will see an option to enter your DNI. Enter it exactly as before (numbers and letter) and click search. A box with your details will appear. Click select and complete the rest of the form with the second pet’s details.
5) Click “Continue with purchase” and that’s it!
This is the process to request insurance for more than one pet.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask 🙂
Once I have purchased the insurance, can I change the plan?
You can only change the plan once the contract year ends, meaning at the next renewal. You can request a change by emailing [email protected] and our team will handle it after review.

*The waiting period is the time from the policy start date during which some coverages are not effective. In other words, it is the time that must pass from the effective date of the insurance for you to access all services included in your policy.
IMPORTANT: All waiting periods are removed if the insured comes from another insurer and can justify equivalent coverages. The sign‑up date at Miwuki and the cancellation date of the previous insurance must be simultaneous or the previous cancellation must be earlier. If your previous insurance ended before signing up with Miwuki, waiting periods cannot be removed.
In which COUNTRIES is my pet covered?

What DOCUMENTS do I need to purchase the insurance?
To purchase the insurance we only need the microchip number, which you can find in the health booklet, registration card, or pet ID.
THIRD‑PARTY LIABILITY
Why is it IMPORTANT to have third‑party liability insurance?
What if your dog bites or attacks another dog or a person? Would you be able to cover lawyer fees and compensation? You never know, but it can happen any day, so it’s important to be protected. In some regions (such as Madrid) it is mandatory and you can be fined simply for walking your dog without third‑party liability insurance.
With our insurance you can include third‑party liability coverage of 300,000€ and 3,000€ in legal assistance.
Can PPP (POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS DOGS) be insured?
Of course! For dogs, you can add third‑party liability coverage of 300,000€ in any plan, and it also includes legal protection and defence expenses up to 3,000€.
Does the insurance cover DAMAGE TO THIRD PARTIES (THIRD‑PARTY LIABILITY)?
You can add third‑party liability coverage (300,000€ capital) regardless of breed.
Third‑party liability insurance with 300,000€ capital and 3,000€ in legal assistance. It covers the liability you assume as an owner for damages your pet may cause to third parties, REGARDLESS of whether your dog is PPP.
Third‑party liability includes:
- Damage claims
- Legal protection (3,000€)
- Administrative law
- Criminal defence
- Telephone legal guidance
In which COUNTRIES is third‑party liability covered?
It covers third‑party liability claims arising from covered events occurring within the European Union.
What is LEGAL ASSISTANCE?
The insurance company will assume, up to the maximum total limit of 3,000 €, the following expenses:
– Fees of a lawyer and, if applicable, a solicitor, according to the rules of the relevant professional association.

The insured has the right to freely choose the solicitor and the lawyer in the cases covered by this guarantee.
