Why should I take out health insurance for my dog or cat?

🐶🐱 75% of dogs and cats need veterinary care every year due to illness or accident. Having insurance ensures that you can face any unforeseen event without financial worries.

I encounter cases daily of owners who cannot help their pets because it is impossible for them to afford the surgeries and treatments they require. They are surprised when we give them the quote, since in human healthcare we don't know how much each thing costs. Simple operations usually cost between 1,000 and 1,500 euros (surgery, diagnostic imaging, anaesthesia, post-operative care, hospitalisation, medication...).
I would take out insurance without hesitation, having the peace of mind that you will be able to face any situation requiring veterinary assistance is priceless.

My pet is already ill — would it be covered?

In general, you can purchase it, but that issue will not be covered if it is pre-existing.

Also, to use the insurance, the waiting periods for accident/illness must have been completed and your plan limits apply.

Do I need my pet's veterinary history to purchase or request reimbursements?

❌ No, exceptionally information may be requested if there is suspicion of a pre-existing condition.

✅ To take out the insurance: microchip. To reimburse: invoice and vet report.
